We have many special projects which allow us to feature the Arboretum.
8"Pockets of Color"
This project includes planting additional cultivars of holly, adding "Pockets of Color" gardens, and building two bluestone patios from which to view the Arboretum. Volunteers also added benches and a new entrance sign to enhance the beauty of our gardens.
8Civil War Program
Because the Arboretum possesses two hollies with heritage traced to the Civil War, a special program was held on July 1, 2001, commemorating the Gettysburg battle. The program included a visit from Abraham Lincoln, the planting of the two hollies, special period dress, encampments, and events. The celebration was an afternoon filled with music, fun and comradery.
8Tenth Anniversary Celebration
A wonderful program complete with the presentation of the Arboretum's history, music and refreshments was held in September 2002. The second decade has begun! Copies of our brochure are available outlining this program.
8Memorial and Commemorative Hollies
We have received dedicated gifts as memorials or in commemoration of a special event. This allows us to plant special hollies and expand our garden variety.
