There are more than 60 hybrid plants in the arboretum which have been selected for hardiness, berry color, attractive foliage or growth habit. Some hollies are evergreen retaining their attractive foliage all winter. Others are deciduous dropping their leaves in the fall and displaying their colorful berries until they are eaten by birds.
Each plant is faced with a sign standard. People can identify and study the wide variety of holly plants if they so choose or they can simply enjoy their beauty.
